This year, ij INTERNATIONAL JURISTS celebrates its 25th anniversary.
Our Annual General Meeting, hosted by DR KREUZER & COLL law firm promises to be a very special event. Guenther Kreuzer, founding partner, and permanent board member and Secretary of ij INTERNATIONAL JURISTS noted that not only was ij INTERNATIONAL JURISTS marking a milestone, but his firm which turned 40 at the end of 2016, was too.
The management committee plans future business and strategy
The management committee of International Jurists (IJ) has held its annual meeting to help plan future business and strategy of the global legal network.
The management committee meeting (MCM) was held in Cyprus for the first time ever, and was hosted by Cypriot IJ member firm Kalia Georgiou LLC.

Argentina: Elimination of Restrictions to Access the Local Exchange Market
The Central Bank of the Argentine Republic (BCRA, as per its acronym in Spanish) issued Communiqué “A” 6037 eliminating a considerable number of important restrictions that were still in force thus easing access to the local exchange market (“MULC”, Single and Free Exchange Market).
Post Brexit Analysis
Following the referendum on whether the UK should remain in the EU, 52% of the voters voted to leave the EU. The total leave vote was 17.410.742 million against 16.141.241 remain. The turnout for the referendum was 72.2% of the electorate. The immediate economic aftermaths of the vote was predictable. It had been aired in press and by economists for months. The vote meant a period of economic uncertainty, as it was not clear what new arrangements would replace current UK EU membership. There would be a period of negotiation on new treaty arrangement.

Pre-Brexit – A view from London
The referendum will be held on the 23rd June 2016 and the British public will be asked to vote on the following proposition:
“Should the United Kingdom remain a member of the European Union or leave the European Union?”
The Brexit referendum was born out political necessity for the Conservative Party. The Prime Minister, David Cameron had to unify his party over Europe before the general election of 2015 and to prevent the drift of Eurosceptic voters to the anti-EU and populist part, the United Kingdom independence Party. In 2013, David Cameron promised a referendum on membership of the EU and pledged to re-negotiate the terms of the UK’s membership of the EU.

Annual General Meeting in Bulgaria
Members of ij International Jurists from across the world attended the network’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) in Bulgaria.
The AGM, from June 17 to 19, was attended by lawyers from as far afield as Chile, Columbia and South Africa, as well as European countries including the UK, France and Germany.
The meeting, held in the city of Burgas and hosted by ij member Lukanov & Gencheva, reviewed the past year for the network and looked to the 12 months ahead and beyond.
