Back to overview

On the weekend of September 13-15 2018, our member firms gathered in the vibrant city of Buenos Aires, Argentina for ij INTERNATIONAL JURISTS Annual General Meeting.

Hosted by our member firm Mizraji Abogados Consultores and organized by Guillermo MIzraji and his staff, our group met for 3 days of intensive and productive meetings to discuss many issues confronting not only our group, but the entire legal profession. The exchange of information between our members, on the most recent developments in their jurisdictions, helps our members provide extra value for their clients.

The event began on the afternoon of September 13th, with our board members meeting as they do every year prior to our AGM, to give them the opportunity for a final review of the agenda for the AGM and to discuss any last minute details or focus points.

On day two, along with our attending members, we were happy to be joined by guest speakers.

The first, financial consultant Juan Srodek, outlined the ongoing financial situation in Argentina, the history which led to the current situation and the investment opportunities which exist for those willing to take risk against the chance of great windfall. Mr. Srodek’s insight and experience was of great value to our members who may have clients looking for investment options and we appreciated his considered and knowledgeable input.

Executive Creative Director Ezequiel (‘Zequi’ )Rormoser, and Executive Producer Marcos Torres of the firm S.R.L. dba Superestudio gave a presentation on the work they do in helping define and enhance branding for their clients. Our attendees had the chance to look at branding from a different perspective and many questions were asked with relation to branding as it applies to websites in particular.

Our newest member firm, Acumum – represented by Geraldine Noel, gave a presentation to our assembly, providing us with an overview of the work they do and of the legal system in Malta.

The rest of the day and on into day three, our group looked at the challenges of keeping ij relevant, competitive, current and valuable for members and their clients and to that end, all relevant topics were discussed over the 3-day meeting.

And once again, we reaffirmed that the advantage for our clients is that we all know each other personally and that the relationships between the members of our group, built over the years, enables us to trust each other and work closely together, feeling confident that our clients are in safe hands with any of our member firms.

Finally, we had the chance to see a small slice of ‘the most European city in South America’ and share time with each other - which is so important to us and part of the fabric of our group.

We anticipate a very positive development in the direction of ij in the days to come: watch this space!
